LES GLIMMER RESTAURANTS

France is the Land of Gastronomy, and, though several cities still argue about being The Captiale fo the French Cusine (Lyon, toujouse, Sarlat, Strasbourg or Marseilles, to name a few), Paris has a reputation we do intend to defend.

While spending a nice time in a Paris restaurant has a lot to do with what you eat, it does not end there : decoration, service, ambiance, even the tablewear and other important details may transform a good meal into an unforgettable art de vivre experience.

The Paris Glimmer Team will take pride in sitting you at some of the most authentic tables of the City of Lights.

This is where took place the memorable 1998 GlimmerDinner.

Your host will be a true artist, who is also a star of the Parisian Nights, and a great friend of us, in a mythical restaurant that was first made famous in one of the most important French Cinema Classic of the 1930s

James Arch at the bar of the Hotel du Nord,
during the 1998 Paris GlimmerWeek.

Delicious traditionnal French Cuisine, enhanced with wines (beers are available too if you insist), will be served at the sound of live musicians singing "La Chanson Francaise" or other traditionnal World music.

Wonderfuly situated on the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin, in the heart of a district whose history goes back to 11th Century (yeah ! that's a THOUSAND years ago), its closest neighbour is the Hopital Saint-Louis, founded by King Saint Louis IX who later died during a crusade.

Durign the Stones week, an exceptionnal exhibition of photographs by Dominique Tarle will take place at the Hotel du Nord. Tarle had spent six months at Keith's house in the south of France during the recording sessions of Exile On Main Street. You cant miss that...

Tuesday, July 8,
Special Stones Night at the Hotel du Nord :
Organized jointly with the "Club des Stones" (French fan-club)

"Rolling Stones" dinner at 8pm
(if you are not on the list,
it's urgent to reserve )

Live music from 11pm
(free access)

For the record, after the 1998 Paris Glimmer Gathering, the Paris GlimmerTeam did establish a close friendship with the Hotel du Nord through the Louis Bertignac mailing list. Louis Bertignac was the guitarist of the most important Franch Rock band, called Telephone, and opened for the Stones in 1982. The Club des Stones heard about the Hotel du Nord thourgh the french Led Zeppelin fanzine.... This place ROCKS !!

LE BOUILLON CHARTIER

On the Boulevards in Paris, near Montmartre and not far from the Theatre de l'Olympia, this traditional Brasserie kept its authenticity in an original 19th century decor.

To feel the true Paris, you should follow this simple advice : dont forget to visit the 7 rue du Faubourg Montmartre...

If we should quote a few numbers, since its creation, Le Bouillon Chartier has lived through three centuries, with only four different owners. Fifty million meals were served, over 365 days every year, and its main room was declared National Historical Monument in 1989.

To present this restaurant as an institution of the French capital, a concentrate of the Spirit of Paris, is thus not an exageeration. A small separate universe in itself, and a place for nostalgy with an intensive activity. For over a hundred years, the ballet of the garcons is in itself an incredible show constantly moving in an Art Deco environment.

The wide Menu includes the greatest classics of the French Bourgeois Cuisine, and the prices are very affordable.
